‘Keep Victoria Beautiful’ Sustainable Cities award 2016

– One of the highest awards in Victoria –

Keep Victoria Beautiful is one of Australia’s oldest environmental groups with a rich history in community reward and recognition. It recognises community leadership and action and was inspired over 50 years ago by Dame Phyllis Frost.

World Mission Society Church of God was a finalist in 3 categories: ‘Community Leadership’, ‘Clean Beaches and waterways’, and ‘Litter Prevention’, and became the winner of ‘Litter Prevention’ for 2016 for their Worldwide Environmental Cleanup Campaign held at Chelsea Beach.

Award Process

After a nomination has been made, a selected panel of judges is chosen to visit the nominees to thoroughly evaluate and judge each entry.

An in-depth explanation of the initiative is presented to the judge using demonstrations, videos, photographs, news clippings, meeting the people involved and/or visiting the site of the initiative.

After inspecting all nominations, all judges gather and a decision is made. The finalists are announced and attend the Awards Ceremony held at the elegant Cowen Gallery at the State Library of Victoria. On the Awards Night, the winners receive a Sustainable Cities Award 2016 (KVB) wooden plaque.
